TIME TO REGENERATE: OD for Thriving Organizations
Over the past years, we have learned how to adapt. To change, redesign, recover, and keep going. We have talked extensively about resilience: the capacity to navigate difficulty, regain balance, and continue functioning.
But what if the real question is not how we keep getting back on our feet, again and again, but how we create organizations that are truly capable of sustaining life, energy, connection, and renewal?
For us, organizational thriving goes beyond resilience. It means creating organizations that are able to renew themselves while they operate, to learn, to connect, and to replenish the conditions that enable people and communities to function well over time.
At the 2027 SZMT Conference, we will explore this question from three interconnected perspectives:
At the organizational level: What enables an organization to become not only resilient, but regenerative? What kinds of structures, cultures, and ways of working can renew energy, strengthen connection, and sustain the capacity for continuous renewal?
At the leadership and professional level: What does it mean to create the conditions in which people and communities can work well, grow, and engage in meaningful work? What responsibility do leaders and OD practitioners have in shaping these conditions?
At the individual and relational level: What nourishes us in our work, and what depletes us? How can we be present and connect with others in ways that do not exhaust the very resources from which meaningful work and relationships emerge?
Regeneration is not simply about recharging after exhaustion. It invites us to rethink how organizations function. Not only to ask how organizations can continue operating in a changing world, but also what they create around them through the way they operate.
What do they build, and what do they consume? What becomes stronger because of them, and what becomes diminished?
We are looking for conference sessions that explore these questions from theoretical or practical perspectives, bring real organizational experience into the room, make tensions and dilemmas visible, or experiment with new approaches.
We are not looking for ready-made answers. We want to create a space for dialogue in which we can think together about what it means today to work for organizations that are genuinely capable of thriving.
The conference will feature Hungarian and international keynote speakers, with sessions in both Hungarian and English. In doing so, we aim to connect the Hungarian OD community even more strongly with the international field of organization development.
